Thank you, Claire for your review!! This was very helpful because this novel has been on my to be read list, and I have been reading so many mixed reviews!
I actually abandoned this audiobook halfway through, and felt so bad about doing so as I love Patchett usually and wanted to love Tom Lake too. I completely agree with your summary. I loved listening to Meryl Streep but there wasn't enough of a story to hold my attention. My mind kept wandering. It was gentle and sweet like you say, but just didn't seem to be going anywhere.

You're welcome. But of course you might love it!

I might have done the same at any point.
I read the hardback from the library. I might listen if BorrowBox gets it. Definitely helps to know the play and I agree not as good as Dutch House
