Gallic books did a brilliant job with these, I've got four of them myself. Did you say you have all of them to read?"
Thanks very much, Steven. Garnier is first-rate.
I have all 6 Garnier audio books available. In addition to The Islanders and The Panda Theory, there's The Front Seat Passenger, How's the Pain?, Moon in a Dead Eye and The A26. I'll be ordering the books as I move through.
The other 6 are available in English via Amazon and I'll be adding them to my stack after I read and review the 6 I can listen to on audio. The others are: Low Heights, A Long Way Off, C'est La Vie, Too Close to the Edge, The Eskimo Solution and Boxes.

Garnier took me completely by surprise. 12 of his short novels have been translated into English. So for me it's 2 down and 10 to go.
Thanks for that, Glenn - intriguing. I spend a lot of time in Brittany and am always on the lookout for books with a Breton setting. It's beautiful but it can be bleak too - the grey stone, the rain, the emptiness. Sad to say, I know of two people out there who've hanged themselves.

From what you have described, Paul, this Pascal Garnier short novel (can be read in an afternoon) is an absolute bullseye for you. His writing speaks to me forcefully - in the upcoming weeks I plan to read and review all 12 of his noir novels.
I read this book today in one sitting Glenn. If not for you I would never have ordered this book. This is the 2nd book of his I gave 4 stars too, and it is hard to wring 4 stars out of me.

Coming from a seasoned reader like yourself, Jim, 4 star praise for Pascal Garnier is high praise, indeed. The good news - you have 10 other of his noir tales to read. Thank goodness for those English translations.
