Arunas Hahaha it’s so funny because whilst I enjoyed this book I also love this review! I agree with so many points, I think SJM has great characters in ToG and ACOTAR, plus the story was massively different but when it came to Crescent city I just constantly had this feeling that something was missing? And clearly it was just that something NEW was missing :( a lot of it feels recycled and the world building was nothing I haven’t seen before… she could have pushed it with the setting to crest something super unique but it’s just a blend of everything without being anything lol

You HAVE to read the second one just because we need your reaction to the ending ;)

Thank you
I am harsh on famous published writers because they have this whole ass team behind them and still deliver mediocre work
SJM can deliver a great story
so what the F was this?

Elizabeth Oh man, this is the only SJM series I have left to tackle. Now I’m a little worried 😬

Sue Miz @Elizabeth
It's not that bad
But it's not that good either
Especially compared to other SJM books
Maybe you'll love it

Jillian I didn’t read your whole review because I didn’t want to see spoilers, but for the part I did read: this was how I felt, too. I got around 30 percent (maybe more) into this book sometime last year and just never finished it. So I guess I accidentally DNF’ed it. It was a chore reading as much as I did though. I was so bored, and I predicted everything. But mostly I was just bored. The worldbuilding was so sluggish, and worldbuilding isn’t supposed to be like that. It’s supposed to unravel in a way that you never even notice that worldbuilding is going on; it just happens effortlessly in the background while you read. This was not that. This made me feel like I was reading a textbook as a homework assignment or something. I was just so bored. Everyone keeps saying that the book gets so much better by the end and that book 2 is amazing, so I want to eventually finish the book and give the rest of the series a try, but I probably won’t be picking it back up anytime soon. Reading that was not fun. And I found most of the characters unlikeable so far except for Ruhn. Maybe someday I will finish it but I’ve got better things to read for now.

Sue Miz @Jillian
If you want to continue reading
Read the first 100 pages and the last 200
You'll understand everything 🤣🤣🤣
