Ok I’m glad I wasn’t the only one wondering about the internet lol. I thought that was gonna be a twist “wait how is he working with no internet” dun dun dun
Also another mishap that drove me nuts… EJ’s eyes. One minute she described them as grey. Which made me say it couldn’t possibly be Ethan. But then she said they were blue. And at one point she described them as both grey and blue within paragraphs!
Agree. Good storyline in general but the reveals seemed rushed and she was careless with some crucial details.
ALSO sleeping in someone's bed? without thinking about the sheets? And the early shower. Just so weird.
A new to me author and one I probably shan't be adding to my list. Thank you for your honest review, it looks as though you weren't the only reader confused by certain aspects of the storyline! :)
I noticed these too, but what also annoyed me was the overuse of the characters ' raising a brow'. This seemed to be the author's sole method of describing incredulity.
I really liked the wife upstairs and the locked door. I’ve honestly been disappointed by her last books however..
I had the same thought about him working! My guy, what could you possibly be doing for hours and hours without the internet?

That is hilarious! Wonderful review! 😎
I agree with you on this one. I also gave it 3 stars. This was my review: What a ride...but almost TOO MUCH of a ride to be believable. I know this author is noted for lots of wild twists and plot turns and this novel doesn't fall short on those. Very near the beginning of the book I thought I had it all figured out but almost immediately told myself that my conclusions were way too obvious and there had to be more to it. And it became increasingly difficult for my belief to get from point A to point B. A fun read and quick page turner but had it been more believable looking back it would have gotten 4 or 5 stars.
Great review, Nina! 💕 I haven’t read anything from this author. There are so many mixed reviews on her books.

Give The Housemaid and The Housemaid's Secret a try. She is one of my favorite authors ---always lots of plot twists and turns you didn't see coming. Her books hold your interest, even though I agree that the book reviewed here is not her best.
My favorite by her is the locked door and the wife upstairs. Many others of her hasn’t been that good unfortunately
There were quite a few plot holes including internet and cell service working fine in a lot of the story until the lack of it was needed to amp up the tension. Also, the psychiatrist was terrible at her job. Therapists don’t or shouldn’t talk like that. It was not for me. I finished it to see what happened and the epilogue was even more unbelievable.
You are very observant mindy! I agree about the therapist part! Not how I want to be portrayed for sure :)
SPOILER ALERT: I felt she tried too hard to make us think EJ was Ethan, to the point where I kept thinking I hope I didn’t figure this out too early, there better be a twist. We know what happened after that, so ok, but I would have preferred it was a little more subtle so I would have felt clever for figuring it out (or so I would have thought). Even so, there were some great twists, and I enjoyed it well enough to stay interested. I read The Housemaid and The Housemaid’s Secret right before this one, and those are both fantastic.
I listened to this as an audio book on a cross country road trip; I finished it out of desperation. I agree with everything above, especially the fireplace and the going to be super pissed if I had figured out the EJ point so soon. Plot-holes that really bothered me: the fireplace; EJ working without internet; the comment Adrienne made about having her own internet/cell service in her house and then it being off (so… the power was working, clearly, so ‘someone’ turned off just the cell/internet?); Luke squatting yet having access to fresh food to stock the fridge; Luke (I assume) taking down and then putting up the portrait; honestly, the list goes on. I give this 3 stars because I like the readers voice and it did keep me engaged enough to keep listening. If I had been reading this I’m not sure it would have received any stars, yet alone, be finished.
Honestly, my son has eyes that are blue sometimes, gray others and even green or a mixture of all three. Not that unusual I think.
And the last little bit with the mums knowing each other some how? Or... how come Tricia's mum never mentioned her sessions to Ethan? I enjoyed it, but the mentioned inconsistencies took away from the excellent twists.
i was also rlly confused at how he “worked” w no internet… maybe he was just writing down inspo or making some powerpoints w no connection while he could? lol
Some might like it, it really depends on the person who reads it when it comes to psychological thrillers. Some love crazy twists, I often do not :)

I'm with you. I LOVE twists but they must be believable and there must be SOME clue earlier on even if you missed it. I think with twists we should be able to ask "how did I miss that" rather than "I never saw that coming."
I also gave 3 stars. I thought the audio book was good. I was engaged enough that I wanted to finish it. I did like some of the reveals. But the Internet thing bothered me .. And the fresh food.
