omg gamar this review!! please everything that you said, from it being slow without any burn, to shannon and her having no personality outside of her family is so true. don't even get me started on the skirt falling scene 😭 she barely eats and is "small" but cw wants me to believe people were foaming at the mouth after seeing her ass - bye 🙏🏻johnny's best moment was when he was high, seriously, best part of the book. k13 was WAY worse than b13 for me, but if you give it a shot, i hope you like it more 🥲

I havent read book 2 yet . At first i wanted to read it mainly for closure but after a few days i was afraid i wouldnt like it anyway so im not rlly motivated to read it .

This review covered so much of what I liked and didn’t like about this book! That’s why I think you’ll like Joey and Aoife’s books better. I found those to be more fast paced, but I have to be honest, the repetitive push and pull in this book seems to be just the style of writing of the author. She really invested all her stock into it 😂 but I found it to actually work for Joey and Aoife’s story because of the overall theme of their books.

I appreciate the honesty 😂 what themes did their book have ? I dont think i have the motivation for any other book of hers except GIBSY'S maybe but u might be able to convince me. i liked both joey and aoife after all

I can’t remember how in detail the first johnnyxshannon book went in on what Joey deals with, but I’m pretty sure it was mentioned that Joey has problems with substances. That’s a major plot point of their books - him dealing with the pain and stress of being in his home and taking care of his siblings with drugs. Another theme in their book is really about Joey’s self image - so much of his trauma actually stems from his mother, rather even than his abusive father, and the books really cover that. Due to these things, the first book in their duet spends a lot of time doing the same thing this one does where they’re not together, but I think it’s founded precisely because of those issues. It’s also much heavier, and much more mature than johnnyxshannon’s book. I was kind of put off by how childish this book was - because she’s actually literally a child 😂 - but Joey and Aoife are so much more mature and deal with more grown up problems. However, on the flip side, it means that their books are way more heartbreaking when things go bad. There are green flags though! There’s therapy and accountability taken and Joey is an altogether more engaging and sympathetic protagonist I feel.

But I’m super biased. Joey is my favourite character in the whole series. Including precious gibsie 😂😂😂 but actually the Joey-Gibsie friendship plays a huge part in their books.

AMAZING review, Gamar!💛 I agree with so many things. I loved this because of the secondary characters, I also was conflicted about Johnny. I get protective heroes can be cool, but beating men to try to solve problems women were causing didn't work for me. It also happens in Joey's books and it drives me crazy. It didn't even work!!

Shannon... I hate damsel in distress trope but i was fine here. As you said, not really see fireworks when it comes to them as a couple but also don't dislike it either. But the secondary characters? Aoife and Gibsie were my favs, specially Gibsie was everything for me too 🥺🥺 I loved book two exactly because of that, there are so many scenes with the secondary characters! 🥰🥰 They were definitely the highlight of the book for me.


Also, i have the same problem of not being able to stop until i finish a book, so i appreciate when I have to study that some books are not very addicting. I usually try old favorites or just books that seem just fine 😂😂

Yk i thought with goodreads being a site for readers id find alot of ppl who had the same problem as me aka the obssession but surprisingly not ? thats why uv got the hiatus going on isnt it ? i can soooo relate i was on hiatus due to exams too . YUP ! march was mostly my webtoon month . April , i tried reading the trashy yet entertaining books so i would loose interest in reading . Then may was mostly rereads of favs so i didnt get depressed lol . YOU GET ME LUV !
