I will beg for an ARC when NetGalley lists it. But I won't get one. I am too small a fish for Tor to notice me.

same same. they only give them to people with huge social media followings. plus they have geo-restrictions so i have zero chance of getting one :/

The GR page for Alecto the Ninth says 10-Oct-2023.
Amazon doesn't have a page for it yet, but in looking for it, I discovered that the German edition of Gideon the Ninth is called Ich bin Gideon. Odd. Same badass cover, though,

hopefully, GR is wrong because the official Tor Instagram page posted a video of T. Muir reading the opening lines of Alecto and saying it's coming out 10th Oct 2023

Fantastic! The item description which threw me off must have been some auto import from amazon at an earlier time. Putting it in the calendar..
That is big missing opportunity really and a very good point. But I went checking and 9/9 is a sunday. American big publishers books are always released on tuesdays, for some reason (and selfpublished things are on friday), and UK big publisher releases are on thursday, so I guess they could not...
January 1st is probably just default when you fill the year but do not fill the month of day. Though early January often has big releases...
I am putting my planned reread of the first two and read of Nona away for a bit, till we have a release date at least!
@L @Hirondelle Yep the only thing Tor confirmed was a publication date of 2024, no news as to when exactly :(
Is it official already, no 2024 pub date? I was not holding out hope, not looking at 2024 publishing calendar, but this is giving me dejá vu PTSD (when trilogies expand in the middle and the third book becomes 4th and so on, that is a bad sign!)
Mind you, I would not want to see it rushed for publication either, seen some books with impressively fast editing and publishing, and it showed and it was not after all what I wanted!
@Hirondelle Apparently Tasmyn Muir was on a panel a couple of days ago and she said she's "still writing it" and is "under a lot of pressure to finish it in a way she's satisfied with it and isn't above 800 pages". Also there is one scene in the book which she's worried might get her excommunicated from the Catholic Church lol.
So I really doubt a 2024 pub date or even an early 2025 pub date. Some people think she might split into another book or might just keep Alecto as a chonky girl. I would rather wait and read it in its best form as well, rather than a rushed version, even though the wait is horrible
Ah, thanks for the reply.

ah! heard somebody really convincingly say she had delivered the manuscript in December 2022 (it got less and less believable with time). Pity about the pressure (except the part she feeling she has to be satisfied with it).
>Also there is one scene in the book which she's worried might get her excommunicated from the Catholic Church lol.
I think they do not actually do that over fiction novels, it would need a lot of reading and checking if author was catholic, lol..., mind you it would be great publicity for any novelist they did it to
>So I really doubt a 2024 pub date or even an early 2025 pub date.
agreed.
I am dodging the wait by not reading Nona, or the short story I found and not reread anything. When there is a strong release date, I will go reread and rabid fan mode..
I heard about the manuscript being done back in 2022 as well but idk maybe she changed her mind? Nona doesn't really end on a cliffhanger but I understand saving it for once there is a release year. The short story should be read after Nona anyways because spoilers
I am actually planning a reread of the first two, then Nona, then Alecto! Crossing fingers, 2025 or whenever, as long as it is good.

It is good to know people are enjoying it though. Living vicariously (by choice...)
