Peacock,

You could start by following the bookshelf link in the upper right hand corner of the landing page for the Femdom Club. There, you will find femdom books that have been recommended by members. Like any other genre, taste is subjective, so read their descriptions and reviews until you find some that sound interesting to you. Good luck with your search.

Sarah Brenner Hello everyone, just wanted to say hi & introduce myself...I'm newer to GR too...also learning my way around...

Sarah Brenner Hi Donna & Connie - thanks for the welcomes...

message 16: by Jim (new)

Jim Lyon Perhaps everyone has noticed that this isn't a very active group, with only 15 messages and replies in 10 months. Since this is a subset of a reading website, how about discussing what we do and don't like about books in the femdom genre that we've read, and favorite or least favorite authors and femdom themes.

In general, I have found that femdom anthologies are more consistently good than novels in this genre are. I suppose this can be attributed to the variety of scenarios presented, plus the fact that short stories of submissive men enduring harsh punishments from their mistresses are more palatable than long ones. Some of my favorite femdom anthologies are the ones edited by femdom author D.L. King. If any of you agree or disagree with the above statements, let's hear from you. Help turn this into a meaningful discussion group rather than one that languishes from lack of interest.

Maybe we could reawaken this thread? Femdom we are Reading

I'm all for rec's but feel it would be in bad taste to name authors whose work doesn't appeal to me. What one doesn't like another might.

I don't think it would be in bad taste to name authors you don't like as long as you don't savage their work and just be bitchy about it. There are perfectly good reasons why one author's books may not resonate with you, and doubtless your sensibilities may be similar to other group members so your insight might save them from wasting their time. I personally dislike femdom books where the protagonist is subjected to a seemingly endless succession of severe punishments and/or humiliations, but I recognize that others eat those stories up. I would appreciate being forewarned about books like that, and readers who like such fare would probably disregard another person's opinion and try it out themselves.

I like your idea of reawakening the femdom we are reading thread, although it didn't seem to get much action in the past.

I'll see how this works first. Frankly, I had tunnel vision when I came here in response to an update from Goodreads, and I did not remember that there is more than one thread. It would seem though, that my point still applies. Overall, there is very little activity in this group and almost nothing discussed has to do with femdom books, which seems odd for a group on a website devoted to books.

message 23: by Mathieu (new)

Mathieu Hello All. I'm kinda new in GoodRead and also a Femdom newbie/virgin. I'm attracted by the genre but not experimented. I been reading what I could call Vanilla/Erotic romance and something is missing. I been also reading some male dominant stories, but nothing on female dominant and it turns me on.
I'm looking to read your reviews and will take note of recommendation.

message 24: by dave (new)

dave Hi,

Just joined the group but not new to GoodReads. Looking for good, realistic femdom fiction.

Cheers

Dave

message 27: by James (new)

James Hi all,
I love D.L.King's stuff, haven't read all of it yet but what I have I've enjoyed, especially her collections of other authors stories as this has enabled me to get a taste of their work.
On the subject of naming authors I would agree that it's perfectly valid to give an opinion on an author even if it is negative. It can only be your subjective opinion after all but it might help others to form their own opinions, if you've explained your reasoning. I would never post a bad review as that disrespects the author but I would give my opinion on a forum such as this.
Personally I've found that I can really enjoy some stories of an author while disliking other efforts of the same author. So for me that resonation goes down to a lower level than an author, more to the individual stories.

Goddess Victoria Black Submissive men and the women who love them (uncensored) Book 1.:

Hello all. Just wanted to promote the above book that some of you may be interested in reading. It's a collection of Femdom stories and all the proceeds are being donated to "Doctors Without Borders." The stories in it will appeal to both men and women. If you have read or decide to read the book and you enjoy then please post a review on here and on Amazon. The more publicity it receives then the more sales and the more money will be made for a very worthy cause.

Welcome, Melissa

I checked out the blurb for The Therapist by Melissa Bell The Therapist.
Can you tell me what about the book/trilogy you view as taboo please :)

message 36: by Jim (new)

Jim Lyon Melissa's post about her new book being available to people with Kindle Unlimited accounts reminded me that my two new books, Femdom Alchemy and Mistress Stephanie's Strays: A Tale of Polyamorous Domination and Submission, are as well. They're only $2.99 anyway, but if you have KU you might as well take advantage of the savings.

message 38: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Dalling Hi everyone, I just joined the group. I'm an author new to writing Femdom, and I'd love to hear more about what readers are looking for in Femdom books.

message 39: by Donna (new)

Donna Welcome Andrea, I tried to send you a PM but your profile doesn't appear to have that option.

Do you have any published femdom titles?

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Andrea,
Welcome! I have read several Femdom novels and one thing that really turns me off is when men are made to dress as women. To me it's just a turn off, I understand the psychology behind it, but I still want my men to be masculine in the stories if that makes sense.
I also tried to send you a PM, but it seems to be disabled.

message 41: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Dalling I've got one published femdom book: Commanding the Billionaire. If anyone would like a read-for-review copy, just let me know. I've updated my account setting so anyone can send me a PM.

Dora, I also prefer more alpha males in femdom stories. Different people have different tastes, I suppose.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to read that, thanks Andrea.
I just started reading femdom this past year. Two years ago, I started reading m/m novels. There is a huge difference in the way females are written in most novels that I can't stand. One glaring thing i have found that bothers me is that so many female characters are written as so needy in needing a man that it drives me crazy, so that's why I stopped reading m/f novels. That's just one reason, but an important one for me. I resent being a damsel in distress.

message 43: by Andrea (last edited Dec 06, 2015 04:23PM) (new)

Andrea Dalling Thanks, Dora. That drives me crazy, too. I like strong, independent women, whether they're dominant, submissive, or vanilla.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Exactly:-)

message 45: by Shaun (new)

Shaun Putaine Hello all, my name is Shaun, I'm new to the group.

I love reading Femdom themed stories and books, and am looking forward to finding out about new books and authors here whom I haven't discovered yet.

I would like to say that, as an author, I really want to hear when someone doesn't like something about one of my books or stories. I absolutely love getting a good review, or even some private praise, but I appreciate criticism (especially the constructive kind) as well. Thoughtful criticism helps me to be a better author, and that's what I aspire to be.

Anyway, I look forward to being a part of the group.

message 46: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Dalling Welcome, Shaun. I agree, constructive criticism is always welcome.

message 47: by Katt (new)

Katt Ford Hi everyone!

I just joined this group maybe a week ago, and I have to say, the level of support here is fantastic! I'm a member of other, bigger groups, but none have the level of support and encouragement that this one does. As a new author, it's really a great group to be part of.

So thanks!

message 48: by Connie (new)

Connie Welcome Shaun and Katt. :)

Fortheloveoffemdom Hello everyone,
