Yay :) I hope you get to! Join my mailing list on my website for access to the most giveaways. Also, 4 open-to-everyone INT giveaways coming in March. Watch Twitter for info.

The main character of Vicarious also has PTSD, but that is a much, much darker story. Maguire (GATU) suffers from survivor's guilt. Winter (Vicarious) has escaped the sex trade and is still healing.
I feel like the character Maguire is secretly based on me! I'm loving this so far! I'm the biggest worry wart around so this book truly speaks to me!

Aww, yay! I'm glad it's speaking to you personally. I'm also a big worrier and an introvert, so I can definitely relate. Thanks for the comment :)
I'm really curious as to what you changed from the ARC to the final book, seeing as I read the final book, and just finished it today. XD
If you click the discussion topic at the bottom of the page, it gives you a summary of changes.

I don't have a page-by-page document for the changes for GATU like I do for VICARIOUS because of the workflow at Harper (the changes get written on physical pages and snail mailed back instead of scanned), but a lot of it was cosmetic, deleting repeated words, smoothing out awkward sentences. There were no major storyline changes.
You're welcome to email me and ask questions if there's something specific you're wondering about :)

Thanks. :)
I really loved this book! As a therapist, it’s hard to find books that portray a real therapeutic relationship. It was sensational enough for enjoyment, but real enough to not make me cringe 😉 Thank you!

Ha! I'll take it :) Yeah, I mention in the Author's Note that some of the therapy stuff--initial assessments, etc.--have been omitted for sake of story but that the CBT in the book is based on actual principles of CBT. Glad it did not make you cringe! My goal was to write a realistic portrayal of a teen who's struggling with moderately severe mental illness, and then show readers that you don't have to be having a life-threatening crisis to deserve and benefit from therapy. Also to show that not all therapists are incompetent, lecherous, or murderous, because fiction has its fair share of those ;)
Thank you for sending me a copy of this book in the giveaway. It's not my usual thing but so far I'm really annoying it. I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your handling of Maguire's PTSD. It's a rare topic for YA to handle, especially while maintaining a pretty light-hearted tone.
I'm glad you are enjoying it :) And thank you. It was a tricky balance to strike--giving the topic of mental health the gravity and seriousness it deserved while still keeping the book hopeful and uplifting :)
I loved this book, and I love Maguire so much! Ahhh I need more, and I’ve been stalking you wattpad to find some little parts that didn’t make the book. It’s too good, and I can’t get over it :’)

I'm so glad people are still finding this book and enjoying it. It has a near and dear place in my heart because writing it is part of what inspired me to go back to school to become a licensed professional counselor. I wish I had more bonus scenes to share. Of all my books, this is the one I would most love to see made into a movie or limited series someday :)
Thank you for the kind words! They definitely brightened my day :)
