It is the 4th book in the series. I think this is a well written series. Characters become more developed in each book. Love the dogs and the cat
I'm listening to the first book in this series, and it's starting to grate on my nerves every time she mentions Sam West or Doug Heller. She calls them by their full names almost every time they're brought up, even more than halfway through the book! Is that really necessary? And does it continue in subsequent books?
I just finished listening to A Dark and Stormy Murder. I loved it and am looking forward to listening to more of this series. My one negative comment is that the Rebecca Mitchell was a poor narrator. Once I got past that I was able to enjoy the story. I specially enjoyed the antics of Lestrade, Heathcliff and Rochester!
I recently read A Dark and Stormy Murder, which I think is the fourth book in this series. I have not read any of the earlier books. I enjoyed the book I just read, but I'm not sure if I want to go back and read earlier books, since the one I read referred back to the others so often that I may have been "spoiled" for earlier books. To those of you who have read the others, is there one that stood out to you as better than the others?
A Dark and Stormy Murder is the first book of the series, not the fourth. I don't remember any others being mentioned in this book?
Alice wrote: "no at least in Book 4 after first chapter it is Sam or Doug"That's good to know, Alice, thank you! Let's hope that it doesn't continue in book 2, or I may not make it to book 4 of the series :)

I enjoy this series. I certainly do see the issues others are bringing up - it could be better written, but they are something different and I enjoy them as such.
Thanks for the heads up about the narrator. I will be downloading this book when I finish my current one. I try to keep my thoughts about the book separate from the narrator, but it is sometimes difficult. 😊

Barb wrote: "Sorry if my comment made that stick in your mind, Becky LOL"LOL it's ok. It gave me a chuckle.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book! I felt like it was a pretty easy read, but life can be heavy, so I am not bothered by light mysteries! I felt like Camilla and Lena were likable, the town seemed nice, and I am looking forward to seeing the series grow!
I am about 1/3 of the way through the audio version of this book, and I get what you have been saying about the narrator. For me, the problem was solved (mostly) by increasing the speed of the reading to 1.25x. The story so far is straightforward, but it is taking a little long to make any headway in the mystery part. It's a light and entertaining listen so far.
I just finished book number 1 this morning. :) I liked it a lot. I loved the plot. I was super jealous that Lena got such an epic job with her author idol. Loved the pets. I really liked both mysteries and all the red herrings... I think I fell for all of them. There was one small thing that just drove me nuts. Lena's last name is London, and she works for a lady from London. I know, it's a little thing... but I just kept rolling my eyes at that every time Lena's last name was mentioned. I'm really curious about the side story Sam's wife!
So I had previously read the first in the series so read the second this month:
Death in Dark Blue. Great addition to the series. Lena has a dream job and situation, and I'm jealous.I will admit to shivering through most of the book; deep winter and I just don't work! Thank goodness we don't have it here.
I have a huge TBR to plow through so don't know when I'll get to the third installment, but I do intend to read it.

Camilla Graham’s bestselling suspense novels inspired Lena London to become a writer, so when she lands a job as Camilla’s new assistant, she can’t believe her luck. Not only will she help her idol craft an enchanting new mystery, she’ll get to live rent-free in Camilla’s gorgeous Victorian home in the quaint town of Blue Lake, Indiana.
