Very true! I’ve been meaning to read it for years; no turning back now. 🤣

✶Rachelle✶ Dexter is the narrator! Now I'm intrigued....

NATALIE I remember reading this as a little Natalie. One of my first King’s and I’ve never looked back. I’m due for a re-read :)

message 20: by Mackey (new)

Mackey This is, by far, my favorite King book and I'm so excited that he is doing a movie remake with more of his "hands on" input, much like he did with It. It should be very horrifying! To say that I LOVED this book is an understatement. Can't wait to read your full review when you're finished.

I had no idea they were doing a movie remake of this one!

message 22: by Amber (new)

Amber awesome. Glad you enjoyed it! I read the book and its awesome. Have you seen the film version of it yet? It goes by the book.

message 23: by Wayne (new)

Wayne Barrett Great review Chelsea. It's been many years since I read this one, but I haven't forgotten how much it impressed me. I've read every book King has written and I believe Pet Cemetery is easily among his top 10.

Thanks Amber! I haven’t seen the film but I’m eager to now. I also am interested in the remake coming out next year.

Thanks Wayne! I need to come to you for Stephen King recommendations. So far I’ve read IT, this one, The Gunslinger, The Shining, Cujo, Sleeping Beauties, and The Dark Half. Any ones I should get to immediately?

message 26: by Amber (new)

Amber Hey Chelsea check out Misery, Cycle of the Werewolf, The Eyes of the Dragon, The Green Mile, and Carrie as well as The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon as they are all pretty good reads from Stephen King. Salem's Lot is great too.

message 31: by Matt (new)

Matt was this the one he wrote during his boozing and drugging years and he doesn't remember writing? I can't remember if this is that particular book or not

message 32: by Matt (new)

Matt which isn't to denigrate the quality of the book at all, btw!

message 33: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Admittedly I haven't gotten around this one yet ( may or may not have been waiting for your review :) but have to get this audiobook now. I love MCH but sometimes actors don't always make the best narrators so glad it was the best audiobook you've encountered so far. Have high hopes & think it will be the perfect read before my summer hiatus. I've heard Bag of Bones is really good. I've read Joyland which was alright, just a bit on the mild side & more romance-ish than eerie factors. Full Dark, No Stars was great though. 4 short stories & an excellent example of substance in a concise way. Would definitely recommend getting to that one at some point.

Chelsea Humphrey Matt wrote: "was this the one he wrote during his boozing and drugging years and he doesn't remember writing? I can't remember if this is that particular book or not"

I believe that was actually The Shining! This one he wrote after a near death experience of his young son.

Thanks Brooke; I will check those out and hope you enjoy the audio of this one once you get the chance to listen! 🤗

Alana I haven’t read this book yet since I am absolutely TRAUMATIZED from the movie. My husband made me watch it years ago and I’ve never been the same 😂 but this review makes me want to run to the library and give it a go!

Katya Vinogradova What a great review! The book obviously made a tremendous impression on you. And your writing is persuasive as always because I want to re-read this book now! I read it a long time ago (as a teenager) and I remember being disturbed by it. But I'm sure now my impression will be different.

Well, I think the obvious choice you would get from most King fans is 'The Stand', and I would agree. He has so many great ones, so I'll suggest these few; The Green Mile, Misery, The Dead Zone and Needful Things. Can't go wrong with these.

message 48: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Hudson I held off for years also and with the new hype due to the ew Audible release and the new movie filming I had to read it. I have read most of his books but not all. This one was the most disturbing. I would not say it was scary but it was certainly dark and give you a sense of hopelessness. I wish I knew what happened after the end.

Exactly how I felt! That ending was chilling and I was dying to know what happened afterwards.

message 50: by Blake (new)

Blake I read this while I was in 6th Grade. Maybe I should re-read it now as an adult and get more out of it. I enjoyed it a lot then, it was my first SK book, but could tell even then there were things going over my head.
