I agree completely.
I saw the trailer in the cinema and I was fully convinced that it was a Divergent trailer for the first half of it. I don't know, when I read the book, I'd imagined it much plainer and less, I don't know, epic. The quiet menace.
I agree completely. The Giver has an interesting style. On the surface it doesn't SEEM very high-tech, but when you actually think about it it would have to be. The pills they take prevent emotions and stop them from seeing colour. That is incredibly advanced biomedicine. Lowry didn't emphasize the tech, because from Jonas' perspective it is completely normal, but we as readers should still be able to see that they have access to advanced technology.
