I like your attitude towards Biddy, she is more than a consolation prize, more than the average, she was a fine and intelligent woman, and also due to not letting her feelings and emotions out of course, she won a fine husband and a fine life. I don't know if Pip though of her as a B plan if everything with Estella didn't worked (which it was obvious since the beginning), but what Pip needed was to lose what he didn't work (what Magwitch worked) and eat a lot from the humble pie so he could become a better and hardworking person.
You know, in life happens a lot that one only focuses in getting the affection and love of one person that one forgets the others who deserve it. Maybe you love someone who is unrequited, but at the same time someone else loves you unrequited as well.
If the person rejects one's affection, one should continue his/her own life. One shouldn't insist, force or look for his/her affection to be returned, let things go.
