While there are many critiques that I disagree with in this discussion, this is one I most certainly agree with.
Maybe they will show a scene that relates to the audience that the people only see in grey? It is Hollywood, they want to make money, and black and white movies do not sell. I think if people saw it was black and white they would instantly overlook it instead of going to see it and realizing why it is in black and white. Although, the idea of the "burst of red" would be so beautiful to see in the midst of a grey scale film. Like the girl's jacket in Schindler's list when they cleaned out the Krakow ghetto.
It's just that color was so symbolic in the book. As Jonas begins to be able to see the truth in his society, he literally is able to see more. He was blind (color blind) and now he can see. I just wish they would at least have it in black and white up until the apple. Then they can have the other whole half of the movie in color, I don't care.
