Because sometimes they can't and sometimes books have to be honest.
I agree. But the girl in the book seemed to be searching for a way out, and I believe she found one. Honesty goes both ways. Things don't always end up bad in real life.
I agree things might not always end up bad in real life but a lot of times they do. Some times there is no happy ending and it's just one way to look at reality.
