Monty J Heying "So some speed freak (Salinger) goes into a hotel room for a weekend and comes out with CitR."???

This illustrates how much you don't know about Salinger. Six chapters of CITR landed with him on D-day at Utah Beach. If you had seen the recent documentary you would know that and also that he worked on the novel during the war, that he was hospitalized for shell shock from the years of combat in some of the worst battles in the European front, that he was among the first Allied forces to enter a concentration camp. You have a lot to learn about life before you can appreciate this book. You sound just like Holden.

Paul Harmon Oh I'm sorry maybe the books just reads that way with his nonsense and repetition so much so that if the repetition was removed it would have been a short story...

Monty J Heying The repetition is necessary because the first-person narrator is a teenager. Repetition is part of his character. If you spend much time around teenagers you will hear the constant repetition of the word "like" and other words. Its a sign of an immature vocabulary. I'm sure it drives teachers nuts. Swearing is also a sign of a limited or immature vocabulary.
