I deal with thoughts of suicide on a daily basis. I've attempted suicide in the past, and continue to struggle with it.
To me, this question is not insensitive. It's interesting to see people's opinion in a subject I know so intimately.
As well as the point that some of these answers give reason against each way. They've stuck in my mind.
So no, I wouldn't call it insensitive. Really, it's fascinating.

Try considering some other points of view on death and suicide, and it won't seem as insensitive to discuss. Exposure to any topic is only sad if you make it so.
