Interesting thought. I just got a book about a man with autism (non-verbal, severely disabled) falsely accused of murdering his mother.
I really like reading about ideas and situations I don't really understand. By the right author, they could really open some eyes.
I think not. The shock value of the naked racism in the south wouldn't be as disturbing today because mass media broadcasts evidence of it into our homes every time we turn on the news. The narrative would lose much of its visceral impact.
