ALLEGIANT WAS NOT BAD!!!! She did stand to lose a lot, and sometimes - usually - the character does not actually lose what they were prepared to lose. And then you cheer for them because you are happy they were selfless enough to give their lives but didn't actually have to. But in this case, Tris actually did. But she didn't die for nothing. She gave her life for her friends and her city and her family. She was such a good person and grew so much. Her sacrifice was necessary and it is unrealistic to think that the hero always gets everything - to save the day AND live. It just doesn't always happen that way and this book is honest about that. Like Tobias said "a fire that burns that bright is not meant to last." And Tris kept risking her life over and over again. It would have felt unresolved to say "and they all lived happily ever after." Her fire went out in a bursting flame. She lived an amazing life, so she had a powerful death that spoke volumes about her character and personality. She deserves to be remembered by readers for the great sacrifice she made for everyone and everything she loved.
i agree with Annabethbeartisaria. although i'm devastated because tris died, I'm glad and grateful for the Divergent series and grateful to Roth for sharing her story. People are different and thus, have different opinions so let's try to understand that we have no right to actually say anything bad about the author because it was her story to tell. and i'm not telling anyone to 'not' hate. just keep your thoughts for yourself...
