magic? I don't recall any magic. I would consider this to be science fiction.
There's a ton of magic. Especially in the later books of the series.
The Giver uses magic to give Jonas his memories. And the idea of the people gaining the memories once Jonas (and the previous girl) were dead or gone out of range or whatever, is only explainable by magic.
And the only possibility I can assume for the control of things like the weather and the ability to make everyone not see color, is magic.
I mean, there aren't any wizards or magic wands or anything, but there's no other explanation for those things.
That's true. The transferring of memories seems impossible to explain. But does the unexplained equal magic as a fail safe in such novellas?
