I agree as well. I mean, sure, shoot her and make her believe she died and then have her wake up. Put her in a coma, even! Have the death serum become her saviour from the bullet wounds somehow. It doesn't matter, it's fiction and dystopian and there were so many routes the author could have gone in keeping Tris alive. Spreading her ashes was like a slap in the face. VR wanted to prove there was no hope for her...terrible.
No, I think he was likely to do that. He knew that Tris had been hanging around with a GD like Tobias, and was actually in love with him. He knew enough about Tris from watching her to know that she would have wanted revenge on anyone responsible for killing her parents. I think he had been suspicious of her for a while, and inviting her into the meetings was a way to keep an eye on her. Even if she was a GP, he would never allow anyone to compromise his vision for removing GDs from the world.
I understand why she had to die but the thing that just makes me so angry is that he (david) doesn't even remember anything of what he did! And that just infuriates me. Even with him though, like Lynne said, he would never allow anyone to stop his mission, his purpose. He is someone who is adamant and will never stop trying to remove the GDs. Even though he was in love with Natalie, i think a part of him wanted vengence for how she 'betrayed' him. And tris hanging out with GDs like tobias made it even worse when it became clear she wasn't working on his side. Not really. But i was hoping that he just would remember and i don't know but i feel like i just wish he could find out that she wasn't trying to kill him or do anything wrong and if he could understand that he did a horrible thing.
