Kelly I know this is almost a year later, but this has bothered me forever! Thank you!!!

I remember arguing with my English teacher in 10th grade about this. He seemed to feel like Boo was going to get positive attention from the ladies in town...that he would be a hero, and that would upset him....the ladies would be sending him cakes and such and he would just be overwhelmed with all the positive interest from the townspeople because he was so shy.

I thought that was ridiculous considering the parallel story of Tom Robinson. In real life, Tom was just helping the Ewell girl, just like Boo was helping the kids by saving them. Of course some people might take it at face value and say he did a good deed, but I would say in real life, some would question if he was the good guy for killing Bob, or if Bob was really trying to protect the kids from Boo. Why risk it? He fell on his knife.

Good or bad attention, it ultimately would not help Boo.

In my opinion-it would have been bad attention. It would have confirmed in their minds that Boo was a crazy pervert.
