If he had done so when she thought well of him, I think she would have said yes. The events that lead to her understanding of Darcy wouldn't have taken place. But I can't imagine her to be ignorant for long. She would be truly unhappy with her choice in time.
That is a great question! I think she might have said yes initially, but I don't think they would have made it to the altar. I think Wickham would have done something that would give an indication of his true character. Mr Bennet was already suspicious of Wickham at their first meeting. He commented to Elizabeth about Wickham whining about his poor treatment to virtual strangers.
Wickham may have not shown his true colours until after they had married! Indeed Elizabeth by the standards set then would have accepted a marriage proposal as she was "old" ! Many a young girl was wed before the age of 19! Let alone over 21.
Why do you think Wickham would propose any way! Haha, I think Wickham is to obsessed with his appearance and ability to fool and play young girls, so I don't think he would have wanted to get married at all! Interesting question that would have changed ALOT of things if it had happened though.
He propably would not have proposed, because she had no money. He only married Lydia, because he got his debts paid by Darcy. I think she would have accepted a proposal though, because she did have a crush on him. I wonder if Mr. Darcy would have intervened in some way, because he did already care for her at the time? Or would he have let it be and wallowed in his heartbreak?
