He's too young to be diagnosed with a Personality Disorder. Personality isn't clearly defined till young adulthood :)
I have Borderline and I COMPLETELY agree with you! I've thought it from the moment I read the book.
You can be diagnosed with "traits" but not the actual disorder.
dissociation is a possible symptom of PTSD as well as well as the anger
Please don't google mental illnesses like BPD that is pretty severe, and instead look up the DSM-5 criteria that needs to be met in order to be diagnosed. Also you can have traits of a diagnosis such as this one and not be an actual BPD, he actually does not meet the criteria for it.
Could be, although he'd need to have a certain pattern to be able to properly fit the Borderline type.
All of these symptoms can also be trauma responses
