I would have to agree with that last line. That is match I would definitely see as becoming YouTube gold. And that is an excellent point, with the superfans. I suppose there are more Frodo fanboys than there are people who just go crazy over the newest Danielle Steel character.
I think another reason is the inherent powers, magic, and action found in fantasy. It's more fun to talk about Gandalf versus Harry Potter than anyone from non-combat genres. You see this a lot with television and comic book heroes. I would pay to see Anna Karenina battle Juliette.
