Oh my god so did I, it's still up to this day one of my favourite books! I love Anita's writing and her way of developing such fascinating characters - and their way of interacting with each other. I found this novel very eye-opening and it definitely opened up a new phase in my life
I agree. She really showed her skill in her handling of the love story. It would have been so easy for it to be creepy and too weird to enjoy, much less to "root for"; but, Shreve really dealt with it in such a way that it really worked well. I wanted nothing more than for Olympia and Haskell to end up together At the scene towards the end when he finally comes back, I was squealing and fist pumping like an idiot. I was SO happy he came back to her! I get impatient and annoyed reading the reviews of people who are too shallow to get past the age gap.
