I agree with you..Even though it would be tempting to think that a grown, smart man like him could be attracted to her physically only, I do think it was deeper than that. He saw her and there was something inside him that, as he said, wanted to meet her, be near her, talk to her - he was interested in her opinions and her views about things. I do believe he cared extremely much about her and fell in love immediately.
Iread this years ago with my book club. I thought that they had a lot in common besides sex. I tried to express this idea to the others in my group, and was hooted down.
I thought that more people would actually stick by that opinion, even though I think he shows several signs of caring deeply for Olympia
