I actually liked it quite a bit. While Ursula and her ilk were treated with disdain, the hunger birds brought more than a little menace with them and the scenes where they attempted to lure the main character out from the protective circle were effective and creepy.
I agree. There were some nice moments, but no tension as you knew what was going to happen and how it was going to end. I wish there was more about the world beyond the ocean. If I knew more about the three women maybe I would have cared for them more.
