Keep at it. I too wanted to abandon the book, but it picks up the pace. Here's a clue- after the business about the Queen's jewels, the story almost seems to start all over again. That's why the 1973 "Three Musketeers" film ends with the jewels being recovered, and the 1974 sequel picks up after that. Remember, the book was originally published in serial form , so it's long and rambling.
