I agree Lisa. :) They are both crazy people and truly deserve each other!
I thought it helped me see the rest of the book as a satire, an exaggeration of gender stereotypes. In the end, they end up pretty normal, a couple struggling to be what the other wants, which is sort of the definition of marriage, in a twisted way.
Yes! Rather disappointing. I agree with Lisa that they deserved each other - to a certain extent. That said, I don't think they're equally malevolent. I was expecting a different ending. I did enjoy the book!
I would have left Amy with the creepy Desi...forever and found some way of Nick getting out of his predicament. I found Amy totally repellent from the start. But the ending as it stands is pure living hell for both of them (did someone actually think it was a resolution??)Pity the child born into that hideous and inescapable environment.

I actually thought it worked well. But here's my question...how would you have ended it?

It'll be interesting to see what David Fincher does with the movie. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in the roles.
