atlas shrugged by Ayn Rand was so boring!
I forgot to mention along Mann and Chekhov, I should have included the Moss Fisher translation of Romance of the 3 Kingdoms. Character A was born, A was killed by B. B married C. C was killed by D, who begat E. That is what it reads like for 800 pages.
I agree about Gravity's Rainbow, but it's not so much as it was boring, as that I couldn't make heads or tails out of it. Since it was a gift, I forced myself to read the first 100 pages, then stuck it in the closet, where it remains to this day unread after 4 years or so.
