They're beyond trite. Sal was an alright guy but Dean was out of his mind. The thing is that there are lots of people like Dean who are reckless, selfish, and have no clue how to spend money.
It's the story and how it is told, definitly not reading material for little girls, can't think of any woman-mind that can grasp the spirit of the tale.
Maybe that was my issue I am to old for this book and did not get to it in time.
