Thank you, it wasn't just me. I read up to the part when Ursala has the run in with Maurice's friend, and just gave up. It is an interesting premise, but I found it kind of nightmarish.
I had the same response to the book. I enjoyed the writing style, but after a while all of the re-dos became tedious.
I loved the book - but I do agree that for the first 100 pages it was a bit slow, and lacking structure. After that though one persistent reader would be compensate with a page turning plot and enjoyable sync with Ursula.
Since the whole book revolves around skipping through time- nothing runs in chronological order, skipping around the book probably made it much more confusing. You have to trust the author that the chapters and events were placed in the book purposefully. Try it again. It's a great book!
