HAve you read "Mila 18" by Leon Uris? Sooo compelling and well written. He wrote several books that surround the Jewish situation in WWII. If you like Mila 18, then go to Armageddon and exodus and QBVII and The Haj. All excellent.

There is also a retelling of the Sleeping Beauty tale set against the Holocaust by Jane Yolen. It is called "Briar Rose". Like this book it is set in the present day, but sends its heroine in search of the past based on a story her beloved grandmother told. There is history, family and emotion. I do geneaology for my family, and this book really enchanted me. It is a bittersweet story
