That was what I though until I saw the large number of angry/bad reviews on here. That's where my post was directed.
I guess there will always be people who can't see a metaphor if you hold it in front of their faces or whack them over the head with it. I can't imagine someone not appreciating the beauty of the message in The Giving Tree, but I suppose you're right. Too bad for them.
