I thought Jem showed signs of selfishness in Clockwork Prince. I don't even hate the trait..I just wish the other characters could see that he's not perfect and has flaws. I wasn't a huge fan of being choked by Jem's goodness.
Jem didn't married Tessa. But there are some loose end why he became a SB, and I love how Cassandra provided so much of those in her series so she can make us reader what they think. Jem isn't perfect but there are also nothing wrong of him being in a zen mode. He is dying for God sake. Anybody who know they are going to die (like cancer people) don't want to waste their life they have left worrying about it. They used up all their life to make it as meaningful as possible until the end and to be with people they loved. And that what Jem does.
