Just curious, what did you hate about the book?
Kiera (she doesn't have one decent quality about her), Denny (boring, was there even a need for him in that book?), Kellan pining for a chick like Kiera (see list of qualities Keira posses above. Oh, that's right ... there aren't any.), the fact that Kellan turned into a giant pussy and oveall YA drama. One good thing about the book: Kellan (before he grew a vagina) and DBags
I couldn't stand Kiera either...I didn't even read the next books because I was so frustrated and annoyed with her...she didn't deserve either of the guys she was hurting...I ended up wishing Kellan hooked up with the sister...lol.
Denny represented the "Nice" guy that ALWAYS gets screwed. Yes, he was boring, but I still felt sorry for his character. I couldn't STAND Kiera in Thoughtless, especially after I read the rain scene from Kellan's POV. The other two books go more into what happened with Kellan and his relationship with his parents and even is biological father. You shouldn't write off the series because you hated this book so much. Effortless and Reckless are both very different from eachother and very different from Toughtless. I love how she evolved the characters from the Thoughtless to Reckless, especially Griffin. He's my favorite D-bag.
i started reading the book and im 40% into it. though this book didnt seem like the best, i really want to read the other two because I've heard they're REALLY good, and I couldn't not read the first one of the series. So far, I understand where everyone's coming from, but at the same time, it makes you think. What if something like that happened to you in reality ya no? You wouldn't want to break up with your boyfriend, but then the guilt. I dont know, it's definitely a rollercoaster ride. That being said, I love books with the rockstar-who-can-get-every-girl-but-will-do-anything-to-win-the-one-girl (that was long lol), so we'll see how this goes. So far, I'm so-so about it.
Julie, I am sure eventually I will finish Efforless since it's already on my Kindle. Not sure if I'll buy Reckless. I just don't care about YA drama, period. I guess the older I get the less tolerance I have for BS. I am all for love triangles and sexy rockstars but felt like this particular story was a complete waste of my time.
that being said, what other romance/new adult books would you recommend? I'm leaving shortly and need to stock up lol
Not everyone is going to like the same thing, I get that. What I like about Thoughtless was it wasn't your typical book. So many of the published authors truly suck because their books are so predictable. Prior to owning a Kindle I would never have picked up a YA book, but I found a couple of free/cheap ones and I found that I actually enjoy the YA/NA drama.
Julie, ITA. Different strokes for different folks and all ... I guess YA genre and all the YA drama that comes with it just isn't my thing. Got enough of it at home. LOL!
I'm with Irene on this. I couldn't stand much about this book. My main hang up was Kellan. He's a jerk. How many times did Kiera tell him they needed to stop, they couldn't be together, to not touch her, to give her space? A LOT! And how many times did he listen? NONE. But then he goes around and blames her when everything goes to crap. But who was the one crying "You can't leave me" and "Don't leave me alone" That would be Kellan. And he never really owns up to any of it- instead leaving it all on Kiera's shoulders to bear. It gets to where enough is enough. I personally don't see the point in reading anymore in the series.
I found the writing style to be too long and drawn out. Too much over explanation. We get the picture! The story was taking way too long to get anywhere.
Also the characters I found to be unlikable and boring. Just not my thing.
I wouldn't consider this a YA Drama though. These are college age kids and there is a lot more sex, graphic at times throughout all 3 books. I would be more inclined to label this one as a MA (Mature adult) than YA. Most of the YA's I've read in the past don't even come close to the subject matter approached here. When it comes to the execution/content in the books at least. The YA's tend to come off a bit more chaste than what u get with this trilogy
I'm so happy this question was asked. i have been asking myself the exact same thing! Most of the ppl I'm friends with on GR hated it but so many liked it! ARGH! What do i do!?
THX!
I am sorry to say, regardless of the genre, this just wasn't my thing. Angela, I would say try a sample of it for free and see what you think. That's the best advice I can give.
