I must of missed that, could you explain it to me as well?
He wasn't sending them to himself. He was literally mailing them off to someone that he didn't actually know. he didn't want the letters to be found by anyone who would know that they were about him. That is why he changed all of the names. That is also why he didn't just keep a diary.
