Andrew Leon Well, not to put aside the theological issues would mean commenting about how he made all that crap in the book up. The theology presented in the book, for the most part, does not exist in the Bible.

Leann Odegaard Like you ED I found this book to be life changing!! :)

Beth Chally I read this because my niece had been assigned to read it for class and could not get into it. She asked me to read it and tell her about it, I am not at all a religious person actually I am very very agnostic. I found it very open in its view and creative in its thoughts, I enjoyed reading it and I found myself open to its interpretation.

message 8: by Ernest (new)

Ernest Wamboye This book changed my life! I saw God in new light! I discovered my utter sinfulness and was more awed by his grace to still love me. This is a book you should always have to read and re-read :-)

message 9: by Tom (new)

Tom Spann Well, the book certainly triggers different reactions (but what book dosen't, I suppose) But I'm with Rubyna and Meda. I thought it was the work of a not particularly gifted writer. Very obvious. Very transparent. Not much of a challenge for the reader. But, I think, if you are of a mind to see it an a religious journey and not a literary one, I can see why some might enjoy it.

message 10: by Dana (new)

Dana Faletti I just cannot picture God the way He is portrayed in the book - like a very wise Aunt - the lady from the maple syrup bottle, you know? I thought it was an interesting concept but a weak story. I know it was def life changing for many, so I can't knock it for being salt to ignite thirst for some. Any book that does that is worth reading. Just not my kind of book.

message 11: by Willi (new)

Willi I agree Ed!It was beautifully written and maybe it takes a "spiritual eye" to get the meaning.

message 12: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Ocasio I absolutely loved it. I think it opened up the mind to thing and ponder on the real importance of life. I have recommended it over and over again

message 15: by Cindy (new)

Cindy It helped me break away from a lot of the legalism that I was taught growing up.

message 16: by Tanya Warwood (new)

Tanya Warwood Great book.

message 17: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie I loved the book. I have a very strong faith-based relationship with God. At first I thought I might stop reading it just because of the seemingly sacreligious slant. So glad I continued and finished the book! Aside from how Young portrayed the physical appearance of God, he did a great job of portraying God's character of grace and mercy to all who will receive it. Loved the part in the book where the father was reassured that his daughter had no memory of her murderous demise. Very comforting when you have been through tragedy with a loved one in your life. I'd recommend this book to anyone with the comment to "keep your mind open" as you read it.
