Kelli Thank you very much for all your suggestions. I had a few of these in mind as I came across them but that was before he started reading and I had forgotten most! I might even have one or two on my shelf to give him right now. :D I think right now he is going to stick with books vs. audio. I can provide them for the most part with my mother until my sister is financially stable enough to pay for some of them. I'm trying hard to get her to sign up for a library card so he can borrow whatever they have. Now that he has a taste for reading, we want to feed it!

My husband is a huge audiobook fan but I haven't found as much success with them. The only ones I've been able to listen to without getting bored are the Jane Austen books. Which is odd because there are so many different genres out there that I love. I just find that audio moves too slow for me and Austen's works are slower so the audio format works for me.

I've just recently published 'Merlin's School for Ordinary Children - The Ring of Curses', the first in a series of six. You can visit my site at www.authorsden.com/margaretroseblake to read a sample chapter. It has the Harry Potter appeal less the wizards and witches. Cheers Margaret Blake (*-*)

Stephen Your sister's getting a library card is a great idea. An even better one is for the kid to get his own. I still recall how great I thought it was when I was young to have a card in my own name. Though times have changed it used to be that many folks never got anything with their name emblazoned on it until they got a Driver's license.

And many libraries now lend out audiobooks as well as hard copies.

As to your liking audio books. It might be that you'd like other genre in that form. I used to love to take audio book versions of Shakespeare's play to the gym. They were more effective than just music in taking my mind off the tedium of the Stairmaster. And a long nightime drive is the perfect setting for a gothic novel that I might not normally read.
