I found it! It was Miss Bingley, and an example of her teasing Mr. Darcy was at the end of Chapter 9. Man that was bothering me.
Some very good points. I have always wondered whether LC ever figured out that it was her own interference which resulted the very thing she was trying to avoid. My own theory is that Mr. Collins probably put it into her head (possibly as pure gossip, possibly as revenge on Lizzie for rejecting him, or maybe a bit of both). Though Charlotte does appreciate what she owes to LC for her station, I place more faith in her discretion simply because Lizzie was her friend. She may be practical (to the point of marrying Collins as a last ditch effort at an "independent life"), but she is not a sower of discord, I don't think.
