Oh please! Paris was a wuss and Helen may have had a face that could "launch a thousand ships", but they were just being manipulated by fickle goddesses. I don't, however disagree with your assessment of R&J.
The question is stated 3 ways: favorite classic couple, favorite literary pairing, and love story you love the most. I think that leaves a wide field.
I tend to agree about Romeo and Juliet. They were probably just flirting some until the parents got involved and then of course it was mad, passionate, everlasting love.

That's a very good point... is the question classic literature couple, or just couples in general?

For sure! My favorite love story would probably be Ron and Hermione. They had the awkward friendship, the I-hate-you phase, and then spur of the moment kiss that everyone knew was coming.
