I agree! You can even look this case up online!
Ever heard of exaggeration? You act like people can't lie. "How can people think this book is fake when the Author himself wrote it based on his life." That was such a naive comment.
it doesn't mean that he was never abused, he just exaggerated and made it look fake. No adult could survive what he did, let alone an 8 year old. His lies are so obvious.
the mother had problems and I do believe that this book is true. There are people psychotic problems and there hardly ever notice able. so doing this articular about it was way to unnecessary about the fact you weren't there for it and the mother is or died in prison. (look it up)
Just because someone wrote it doesn't mean it's true. We all believed "Three Cups of Tea" and look what happened. People have their reasons of doubting this book, and I don't blame them. I don't deny at all that child abuse goes on in the world, but what he writes about doesn't always seem credible. (As the comment above states, a stabbing in the heart with no medical attention. Really?)
Anyone can say they are telling the story of their life. There've been numerous scandals where peopke were found to have lied in memoirs. I read the book and saw inconsistencies.
What people know about him anyway? Why nobody's thinking if his family makes some kind of conspiracy between them?
Some family have tendency to hide their shameful affair, you know...maybe his family feel shame about the truth, and accuse him exaggerated everything?
OMG freaken God that was not an "investigation piece" it was a terrible rubbish opinion piece that got serveral facts from the book completely wrong it was a very shoddy opinion piece that the writer did no research on whatsoever apparently all he did was skm the book because he got a number of basic facts from the book wrong. And yet whenever someone wants to bash Pelzer they link to that ONE same crummy opinion piece dysfunction for dollars as some kind of evidence that the books were debunked when they were no such thing.
Parents with personality disorders frequently choose one or two children to focus all their rage and self hate on. It's very convient because then they can say "See nothing is wrong with me cause I treat my other children nice so it's just the bad kid. It's a chonic pattern. Then the children that they treated nicely often lie that there was no abuse because they don't want their mother dragged through the mud and they still feel their brother or sister deserved the abuse anyway. But no child deserves that. Pelzer's mother made up the lie he was taken for setting fires to everyone to protect her own reputation but her son Richard has since come forward with two books about how after David left he became the new substitute for her to abuse.
