I know right??! When I was getting to the end of the book, I was like what the...?? This is NOT how it is supposed to end!!! lol
For real? Okay so maybe Peeta doesn't hunt like Gale, or work grueling hours in the mines, but Peeta is kind and that's one of the main things that Katniss was drawn to in him. The way he spoke moved people to action and he was instrumental in uniting the rebels in Catching Fire. Gale is a hunter, even in the war he was very flippant about lives that were taken. He may have watched the Games but he had never been in them with Katniss. Peeta had and he protected her from the very beginning and really understood the cost of taking a life first hand. He had a real love for Katniss, why else would Snow use Peeta against Katniss? Katniss loved Peeta without knowing it, but Katniss knew she didn't love Gale the way he did her. It makes perfect sense that Katniss and Peeta were right for each other, they always protected each other. I think it's pretty impressive that a quiet baker from District 12 could protect and save Katniss on so many occasions.
