I'll explain: The gods too are characters. Remember the relationship as Hermes / Luke, Zoe / Artemis or Annabeth / Athena? I wanted to see more things like that. That's how the series began with inspiration from Greek mythology.

There is still a lot of mythology in the books. And if you're complaining about the romance, a lot of myths revolved around romance.

That is true, though, that romance was in the myths. Echo and Narcissus, Orpheus and Eurydice, Eros and Psyche, practically all the myths with Aphrodite...
