That's true. I only got annoyed at it because I felt it was rather unnecessary. I felt like he put it there because his readers expected it, or because it's a flashy trend now to stuff YA lit with love triangles.

hmmm...i think he was etting stuff up for the next book. i don't think any of these triangles ( well hazel/frank/leo and piper/jason/reyna, i didn't think there was one with percy/annabeth/reyna) are gonna finish until the final 2 books.

Yeah, Rick Riordan doesn't seem the type to follow the YA "trends". He admitted to wanting to throw Twilight across the room because it was so bad, I don't think he'd want to follow the same trends as it.
