By 'these books' do you mean all of the mainstream books? I used to be like that, then I realized there's a reason everyone likes them. I agree with Hunger Games though- the whole Peeta vs. Gale is out of control!
I mean dystopian or utopian books. The idea that society can be perfect or that a whole society can be controlled by fear, disturbs me. Maybe it’s growing up in the USA but I think people desire their freedom more than the safety or perfection or the appearance of a perfect society. Like Thomas Jefferson said if men were angels, then there wouldn’t be a need for government. I know my friends like these books because they say it makes them think "out of the box," but sometimes I think truth and reality are "stranger than fiction" and find myself wondering and watching what is really going on in the world.
