I thought that the language in the 6th story was pretty hard to follow. The words were incomplete and I had some trouble making out what words Mitchell was using with an apostrophe smack dab in the middle of it.
My view was that that story came from a post-nuclear disaster time, with newly primitive societies, so the story should be thought of as a written-down version of something that would be recited orally - bottom line is it helps to "read it aloud" to yourself.
That is actually what i had to do at some point, read it aloud. I eventually got through that section it just really knocked my pace off .
