Funny that you mention though, I don't find anything desirable about Gale! lol
Gale gets on my nerves for the most part. He walks about with a chip on his shoulder, as does Katniss. They're best friends because they're so alike. More like brother & sister!
And who really wants to get it on with her brother? That's just nasty!
Whereas Peeta is everything Katniss is not, making them a whole unit when put together.
And I thought it was so sweet how Peeta has loved her from afar for so long!
It annoyed me that Gale felt he had dibs on Katniss because he 'knew her longer'. That's just silly!
Besides, Gale could never love Katniss the way Peeta does, and it's proven when Gale goes to district 2, instead of fighting for her.
And even though she doesn't really deserve him, Peeta is good for her.
As for the saying "may the best man win!"
Is true in this case!
It is unfortunate that Peeta comes off a bit wimpy, but just because he is not much of a fighter doesn't mean he isn't strong. He is injured throughout most of the story but he never gives up and I think that is a great quality. He is willing to do whatever it takes to protect Katniss and is completely selfless. He is patient with her as well, and understanding and compassionate. The books also describe him as physically good looking, and strong. The list goes on and on! He is smart, good with words, and has a witty, sarcastic sense of humor. Plus he can bake and decorate cakes! How can anyone not see the appeal here?? I suddenly don't like my boyfriend anymore.
