I disagree - not about this particular case but your statement in general - 'Fightclub' comes to mind as a far better movie than book. 'Carrie' also, I really enjoyed them as books but I think in those cases the filmmakers managed to improve on the authors' vision. But I do agree, that for the most-part - the book is usually way better.
I agree with you, there r some movies out there that truly give the book justice.
I strongly disagree. Although this is rare it can happen. I'll give you two examples: Blade Runner and 2001: A space odyssey. Although this are great books (especially 2001) movies are better than books. But I say, although it can happen it is rare.
