I too cry every time watching Frodo smile as he boards the ship - also Pippin's song as Denethor chews on the tomatoes and Farimir rides to Osgiliath, possibly his doom, is heartbreaking. (Denethor was gentler in the books.) The death of Haldir was heart-tugging after he and his elves came to help Aragorn and Theoden....I've seen the movies over 20 times and still break up. Jackson crafted these scenes beautifully!
I'm so glad I found some Tolkienisti like me - I could talk myself silly about Tolkien's books - Silmarillion was hard but Children of Hurin was easier to read.
